#002 Why home page sliders are bad for your website?

Sliders are a curse to all the websites. They defeat the very purpose of building a website as they hamper your conversion rates in every possible way.

Research shows that a visitor stays on a website for not more than 3 seconds if he does not find anything useful one it. So we just have 3 seconds to impress the visitor that we are worthwhile and we can solve your problem.

How much can a visitor navigate the website in just 3 seconds?

Probably only top section and one section below it.

So it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the top section of the website is the one that will either make or break your website. Now, what if we fill this section with the garbage called image slider.

Well, you lose on visitors who could be potential customers.

But why are image sliders so bad?

Because they are images, they take time to load. They are not focussed as we are confusing the visitor by cluttering their mind with multiple marketing messages and not to mention they eat up the important space on your website.

With all above the fold content filled up with the image slider, your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts are also down the drain. SEO is costly, image sliders are free.

And I don’t think you would want to affect something that is costly with something that is free.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Listen to this week’s podcast to understand why image sliders are so bad for your websites where I discuss the bane of sliders in depth.
